On Your application:
- Include a statement for applicants to sign that states they understand all false statements or omissions will result in termination, regardless of when discovered.
- Have applicants list all employers during a specific time period and specific dates of employment.
- Include in your application, a release of information or authorization concerning your rights to check references and seek additional background information.
- Ask as much as you legally can about previous arrests and convictions.
- Include an equal opportunity statement that applicants will be for employment regardless of their race, color, religion, sex, national origin, age, disability, and whatever other classes are protected under your state law.
- State that the application will only be active for a limited time, thus you will not have to review all applications on file each time a new opening occurs.
- Include a disclaimer that the application is not a contract of employment and, if hired, the employment relationship will be terminable at will.
